R&D Intern
Feast & Fettle is accepting applications for the Spring 2026 semester for a curious, detail-oriented R&D Intern to support our Product Development team in our test kitchen. This internship is designed for culinary students on a food science–focused track who are interested in building a career in product development, food manufacturing, or R&D.
This is a hands-on learning role where you’ll work closely with our Commercialization & Product Planning Manager to support both new product development and continuous improvement of existing menu items. You’ll gain exposure to how ideas move from concept to scalable production—learning the systems, testing methods, and standards behind the meals our Members rely on every week.
What is Feast & Fettle?
Feast & Fettle is the fastest-growing meal delivery service in the Northeast—and that momentum comes from a team of smart, kind people who show up to build, not just keep up. We move with urgency, sweat the right details, and bring care to everything we touch.
What began in 2016 as a private chef’s side hustle has grown into a company serving thousands of households, with a mission that’s both simple and personal: to nourish everyday life. That mission shows up in every detail—from how we source ingredients and plan our weekly menus to the care in every delivery and the trust we build at our Members’ tables.
We care for our people the same way we care for our Members—with consistency, thoughtfulness, and a constant drive to raise the standard. We invest in our team because we know: when you’re supported, you do your best work—and help us do ours.
What you’ll do
As an R&D Intern, you’ll support test kitchen work that blends culinary execution with food science principles. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with recipe testing, product development trials, and formulation adjustments.
Supporting product improvement initiatives, including yield optimization, texture and flavor refinement, shelf-life and packaging considerations, and process consistency.
Preparing ingredients and test batches using standardized recipes and documented procedures.
Accurately recording test results, observations, and measurements to support data-driven decision making.
Participating in sensory evaluations and structured tastings, providing thoughtful feedback.
Helping document recipes, test outcomes, and process notes in a clear, organized way.
Supporting basic food safety, sanitation, and allergen protocols in the test kitchen.
What we’re looking for
This internship is ideal for someone who is:
Currently enrolled in a culinary program with a food science or culinology focus
Genuinely interested in food science careers, product development, or food manufacturing.
Comfortable working in a kitchen environment and following standardized procedures.
Detail-oriented, organized, and curious—especially when testing, measuring, and documenting results.
Open to feedback and excited to learn through iteration and collaboration.
Able to stand for extended periods and assist with light lifting as needed.
Experience in a production, test kitchen, or food manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required—we’re more interested in your curiosity, care, and interest in the science behind the food.
Allergen Notice
At Feast & Fettle, people safety and food safety are our top priority. Our Culinary Operations teams work with all major food allergens. This role involves full sensory contact, including touching, smelling, and tasting allergens. By applying, you acknowledge this is a work environment where allergen exposure cannot be restricted and may present risk for individuals with sensitivities or allergies.
What we offer
$20.00/hr. And, interns enjoy a free Feast & Fettle membership—$160 worth of our fully prepared menu items every week, and access to a monthly wellness reimbursement you can use for anything that supports your well-being, from gym memberships to therapy copays.
