Receiving Specialist
Feast & Fettle is seeking a Receiving Specialist to join our Procurement team.
This is a $20/hour, full time role with benefits, onsite at our facility in East Providence, Rhode Island, with a Tuesday-Saturday workweek. Shift time will be 8am-4pm Tues-Fri and 6am-2pm on Saturdays.
What is Feast & Fettle?
Feast & Fettle is the fastest-growing meal delivery service in the Northeast—and that momentum comes from a team of smart, kind people who show up to build, not just keep up. We move with urgency, sweat the right details, and bring care to everything we touch.
What began in 2016 as a private chef’s side hustle has grown into a company serving thousands of households, with a mission that’s both simple and personal: to nourish everyday life. That mission shows up in every detail—from how we source ingredients and plan our weekly menus to the care in every delivery and the trust we build at our Members’ tables.
We care for our people the same way we care for our Members—with consistency, thoughtfulness, and an unending commitment to raising the standard. We invest in our team because we know: when you’re supported, you do your best work—and help us do ours.
What you’ll do:
The Receiving Specialist ensures accurate, efficient intake and documentation of ingredients and packaging to support smooth kitchen operations and minimize waste. This role verifies that all incoming items meet quality specifications and facilitates proper inventory placement and rotation.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory:
Receive and check deliveries five days a week, verifying quality, quantity, and product specs.
Land deliveries in pre-mapped storage locations using FIFO (First In, First Out).
Rotate existing stock and monitor expiration dates.
Documentation & Administration:
Log receipts, resolve discrepancies, and escalate credits or re-orders as needed.
Maintain food safety records and compliance documentation.
Assist in placing purchase orders for perishable and non-perishable items.
Inventory Support:
Conduct mid-week and end-of-week inventory counts to monitor stock levels and yields.
Place mid-week orders to address shortages or discrepancies.
Document food donations and compost for accurate reporting.
Food Recovery:
Respond to day-of recovery needs, especially weekly high-volume recovery days.
What we’re looking for:
1-2 years of professional experience in Receiving or Inventory functions [relevant experience can also include Kitchen Management work]
Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
Physically able to lift items weighing fifty (50) pounds
Basic understanding of general food ingredients and expiration dates
Must have valid driver’s license
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Some experience with receiving and purchasing processes
Have, or willingness to earn, a Forklift Certification
Basic knowledge of FIFO practices and quality control in food service or manufacturing is a plus.
Ability to resolve discrepancies, handle urgent needs, and manage multiple priorities.
Desire to contribute positively to your coworkers and to the company
Ability to listen and communicate effectively
Very strong work ethic and enthusiastic attitude
Tech savvy is a major plus! We like to integrate tech into all aspects of the business
Positive attitude; we believe a negative attitude inhibits everything about what we are trying to accomplish as a team.
What you get:
Here, you’ll find comprehensive benefits that make a difference in your daily well-being, along with a safe, welcoming, and energized workplace culture committed to inclusion and providing the opportunity for every team member to thrive.
We provide medical, dental, and vision coverage (with 70% of your employee premium paid by F&F), accrued paid time off that increases with tenure, and a 401(k) retirement plan. All employees enjoy a free Feast & Fettle membership—$160 worth of fully prepared menu items every single week—plus paid parental leave, an annual $1,000 professional development benefit, and a monthly wellness reimbursement you can use for anything that supports your well-being, from gym memberships to therapy copays.
